Fresh Food Distribution is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during open hours. We are closed daily 12pm to 12:30 for restocking.
We distribute fresh produce, breads, pastries, and prepared foods donated by local markets and farmers each weekday we are open. The bounty of produce and bread is recovered from area farms and grocery stores — food they can’t sell (the bananas are ripe, there’s a bruise on the eggplant, they grew too many zucchini, yesterday’s bread). Fresh Food Distribution is a key component of our effort to end food waste and make sure that everyone has access to fresh, healthy food.
Everyone is welcome to access Fresh Food Distribution once each day by getting a randomly numbered ticket at the reception desk. Ticket numbers are called from 11am to 12 noon to ensure an easy flow. At 12:30, when we reopen, anyone with any number can come in.
Shoppers choose a specified quantity of fruits, vegetables, desserts, breads, and ready to eat items from many options available. The quantity is different every day depending on the donations we received that morning, but there is always something for everyone. Leftovers from lunch are added to the “ready-to-eat” items in Fresh Food Distribution at 1:30pm, and are available to anyone who has not accessed Fresh Food Distribution yet that day.
Thank you to our food recovery partners and farmers fighting hunger.
