The Community Store

THE COMMUNITY STORE IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED AND NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS.

IMPORTANT: CHANGES REGARDING COVID-19

The Community Store is open for shopping:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday from 11am to 2:45pm
Thursday: 11am to 6:45pm

The Community Store stocks a wonderful array of gently used clothing and housewares, all generously donated by our community. Everyone is welcome to shop in the community store every day we are open. All shoppers may select up to 15 items per day into your shopping bag. Some items have specific daily limits including coats, toys, shoes/boots, undergarments, socks, and other seasonal items. Everything is free!

COMMUNITY STORE
STORE DONATION INFORMATION

Store check out

Like any store, when you are done shopping, you proceed to the checkout counter. A store staff or volunteer will count your items. Look for signs in the store regarding specific item limits.

Our bag policy

You need a shopping bag to shop at the Community Store. Please shop directly into your bag, as you would shop into a basket or carriage at another store. If you don’t have a re-useable bag, the Community Store can provide you with one on your first visit. Some oversized items may be carried out. Check with the Store Coordinator for assistance

Emergency request log

There is a Request Log available for people in specific emergency circumstances, such as following a natural disaster like a fire or flood, or moving from shelter into permanent housing. The request log allows families in these circumstances to receive a larger quantity of items, and specific needed items. Ask the Store Coordinator if you are interested. You can contact Susan Cox at 413-549-3968 x101 or store@amherstsurvival.org.

Tents & sleeping bags

Gently used or new tents and sleeping bags are available to people experiencing homelessness starting on May 1, when the local homeless shelter closes for the season. If you need a tent or sleeping bag, please let Susan Cox, the Store Coordinator, know.
