What is the holiday gift program?
Every December, children whose families use the Amherst Survival Center’s Food Pantry have the opportunity to select NEW children’s books, a game and winter accessories (scarves, mittens, hats). These items are supplied by community members, local businesses, local authors. (We even have a section of books donated and signed by local authors!) The program thrives because of community support.
Since the program began in 2014, the community’s generosity has allowed the Amherst Survival Center to distribute 6,267 new children’s books and 1,118 new games to 1,976 children in 1,047 families.
What do we need?
The program relies on donations of new children’s books for ages 0-18 years. Games for a variety of ages. Winter accessories for children ages 0-18.
Do you have suggested book titles? Or suggestions for games?
Spanish books and games are welcome and appreciated.
Where should I bring my donation(s)?
You can always bring them to the Amherst Survival Center at 138 Sunderland Road, or you can bring them to one of the many community collection sites. If you order items online, you can ship them to the Amherst Survival Center at 138 Sunderland Road, Amherst, MA 01002. (If you send them to the Center, please let Lisa Queenin our Development Coordinator know to expect them. She can be reached at email@example.com.)

Can my business be a collection site and/or hold a holiday gift program collection?
Absolutely! Let us know and we can provide you with signage. If you have questions, please contact Tracey at 549-3968 ext 102 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When does the Amherst Survival Center need donations to the Holiday Gift Program?
Great question! We distribute books, games and winter accessories starting December 1st. The earlier we receive the donations, the better the selection for all recipients.
