The Amherst Survival Center (ASC) is seeking a culturally competent part-time Development Coordinator who is committed to social justice principles. The ASC, a non-profit organization based in Western Massachusetts, was created in 1976 as a community where people gathered to help each other. It is a grassroots organization that has evolved into an organization whose mission is to provide convenient access to food, health care, clothing and community to over 4,000 people each year through volunteer efforts.
The Development Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and works closely with the Finance Controller and the Board of Directors (in particular with the Development, Donor Stewardship and Events Committees). The Development coordinator will focus on the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of new and current donors (individuals, businesses, and foundations) in support of the Amherst Survival Center operations and any future campaigns. The Development Coordinator will build the fundraising program of the AsC such that it provides essential support to annual operations and organizational priorities.
The Development Coordinator is responsible for managing the organization’s fundraising, donor relations, major gifts, and communications activities. The Development Coordinator will focus on the creation of a development program that includes an emphasis on a major donor program, while attending to the implementation of a program that addresses all individual donors, organizational and foundation donors, and business supporters/sponsors. As such, the Development Coordinator is also involved in grants research and development, and is the staff support for fundraising events.
Applicants should have: Grounding in a variety of fundraising activities including major gifts, annual fund development, grants research and grant-writing and event management experience, as well as experience and competence working in communities of color and with groups of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
