Businesses are essential partners in the Amherst Survival Center’s mission. Our collective strength makes a big impact on fighting hunger in our community and connecting people to the resources they need.
Businesses provide financial support and in-kind contributions of goods and services, participate in community fundraising activities and collections, lead workplace drives for food, personal care items and clothing, and volunteer their time and skills on behalf of the Amherst Survival Center.
By becoming a business partner, you demonstrate your business’ support for our programs and our community’s effort to reduce food insecurity and food waste.
In addition, your support of the Amherst Survival Center will:
- increase your company’s visibility and expand your marketing reach,
- strengthen your connection to the community, and
- offer your employees an opportunity to engage in the work of the Center.
A variety of opportunities exist for business involvement. These include:
→ Event Sponsorship: Sponsor one of our signature fundraising events, Empty Bowls in March and Feed the Spirit in the fall. Event sponsorships are available at different levels and are recognized in a variety of ways.
→ Designated Program Sponsorship: Provide targeted support for the Amherst Survival Center’s mission by sponsoring a specific program. Examples of program sponsorship opportunities include A Day of Services, Food Pantry programs, Meals for the Week, the Personal Care Pantry, and the Community Store.
→ Donations of Goods and Services: In-kind donations of goods and services support our programs and help the organization offset operational costs. We gratefully accept and use donations of food, personal care items, clothing and household items for our store, printing services, creative and professional services, event space, and advertising placements.
→ Community Drives: Drives are a great way to unite your business around the cause of fighting hunger and supporting our neighbors in need. For ideas and more information on how to execute a successful Food & Fund Drive, click here. We also welcome community drives for other needed items such as personal care items, diapers, winter coats, socks, and (new) children’s books and games for our Holiday Gift Program.
→ Volunteering: Engage your team and make a difference. Our Volunteer Coordinator is happy to arrange the right project that meets the specific interest of your employees and the needs of the Center. Learn more about volunteer opportunities here.
→ Job Services and Recruitment: Participate in the Center’s job fairs or let our Job Search Assistance program know of a job opening at your business. Our Job Search Assistance Program offers personalized coaching for job seekers at all skill levels.
→ Workplace Giving & Matching Gifts: Your business might want to consider matching an employee’s donation to Amherst Survival Center. We also welcome “employee directed” workplace giving, when employees choose a charitable organization for their company’s donation. We can provide materials about our work, make a presentation at your meeting, or arrange for employees to visit the Center and see our programs in action.
We welcome the opportunity to work with area businesses to customize the best fit for your organization.
