Exciting things are happening at the Amherst Survival Center!
As we re-open our indoor dining and activities, we recognize that COVID is not over and will be with us for some time. We will continue to offer high quality masks to anyone wanting them at the Center. We have excellent air-filtration, increased sanitation, and protocols for staying home when sick. Additionally, we will continue to offer meal service and produce outside, so anyone who doesn’t want to eat indoors is welcome to eat in the picnic area or to take a meal to-go.
What to expect when you visit
When you arrive you will be asked one simple question—”Where do you live?” We need this information to keep track of how many people come in a day from what area.
If you have a question, ask anyone! They may know the answer or be able to point you in the direction of a person who can help. Staff and volunteers outside are happy to help you find the information you need.
There is limited parking available in our lot. Please do not park on grass or in other restricted spaces. Extra parking is available on the street on Cowl’s road. Do NOT park at Cowl’s Lumber, Watroba’s, or ProSensing. These businesses are strong supporters of the Amherst Survival Center and need their parking for their customers.
Starting September 1st, look for these changes:
The Center space will be open to all from 12-3 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
This will include access to the dining room, picnic area, pantry, resource center, computers, community activities, and services for folks experiencing homelessness. Lunch service will extend throughout this window (served from 12-2:30, rather than the 1-hour lunch service before COVID).
Lots of great Community Activities and Resource Center programming is in the works!
All programming will be updated on our community calendar. Stay tuned for lots of great options and let us know if you have ideas! Email email@example.com. We will continue to offer lunches to-go from the outdoor shed between 12-3. Folks are still welcome to take lunches home for family members.
Fresh Food Distribution will continue to be available outside from 12-3.
Improvements are coming to increase choice in produce available. We are working towards full choice produce selection outside in the shed later in the fall.
The pantry is also open on Thursdays until 7 pm and on the 3rd Saturday each month from 9am-12pm!
Curbside pick-up and grocery delivery are ongoing. No changes to these hours or availability!
