AMHERST – A little more than a month after its April 13 groundbreaking, the new 6,500-square-foot building that will house the Amherst Survival Center at 138 Sunderland Road is taking shape.
“It now feels very real,” said Cheryl Zoll, executive director of the center.
The new building will double the current space the center has in the former North Amherst School and will provide four times as much usable area because it is designed to accommodate the needs of people who use the center, Zoll said.
The $2.5 million building is projected to be completed in mid to late fall, but the center may wait until January to shift its operations because holiday season is typically extremely busy, Zoll said.
The capital campaign still needs an additional $300,000. For information, visit www.amherstsurvival.org/campaign.
