Basket The Protein Pantry

Help stop nutrition shortages. The Amherst Survival Center is experiencing a growing shortage of protein -- essential to health.   Beans, tuna, peanut butter, canned stews and fresh meats---these protein-rich foods are being donated at lower levels than in the past.   We have created a fund to allow us to go beyond donations to acquire foods essential to a healthy diet for our neighbors in need.  The Center provides five meals weekly and our aim is to provide protein in each of them.

“Government funding for food has been cut by more than 50%. Local businesses that generously donate food have had to trim excess to meet their own bottom lines. Neighbors who always donate non-perishable food also have less to spare. The Center’s goal is to keep our food shelves stocked and meals we prepare nutrition-filled in this time of increasing demand for our services." -- Cheryl Zoll, Executive Director, Amherst Survival Center
